What are the secrets in Super Mario 64?

Go to the area were the ghosts are. You will find a post on the statue that says:

"L IS REAL 2401"

Many believe that this is evidence for that Luigi in fact is somewhere hidden in the game. That is not true. They wanted to have him, with options to play multiplayer,

but the game would not work then so they removed him.

It is most likely referring to the Paper Mario game saying that Luigi would appear on the N64 on February 4, 2001 in the future.

">Post mysteryGo into Tiny-Huge Island as small Mario. Now go to the part where the Lakitu guy throws porcupines at you. In the water there is a tall island with a post and a sign on it. If you get up there (either use the cannon or jump off of that helicopter guy), read the sign. It says: "I take no responsibility what so ever for those who get dizzy and pass out from running around this post"

Walk to the very end of it, and you will transport to the bottom of the level, near the big penguin. Stand at the end of the broken bridge you end up at, and you will warp back to the top. You can use this warp to get between the top and bottom of the mountain easily. Extra CoinsWhenever there is a post in a level, if you run around it 5 times and some coins will pop out. These are good if you need more health or need to collect 100 coins. Yoshi (N64 only)Once you have gathered 120 stars, jump into the now open cannon outside the castle. Shoot onto the roof and talk to Yoshi. He will give you 100 lives and an improved triple jump.

On the DS, the cannon will allow you to reach a red ? block, 3 1-Up mushrooms and one of Luigi's green rabbits.

Water Rise in Wet Dry WorldThere is a way to control how high the water level is in Wet Dry World when you enter it. If you jump high into the painting, the water level will start off high. If you jump low into the painting, the water level will start off low. There are several different water levels that it can start as, and these are determined by how high you jump into the painting. Bonus Final MessageGain all 120 stars (150 on the DS), then go back and face Bowser. You'll see a new message.
