well ive bought two ps2s (one broke xD) and i got different things each time you should get a three prong port that plugs into the back of the ps2 and into the tv on the other end, and an adaptor which plugs it into the wall for power and my second ps2 came with an online setup disc for online play (never used it but i heard its pretty sweet) hope its helpful for ya P.S: with the 360 and ps3 out now, im not sure what use a rapidly progressing outdated machine will do, but one advantage a PS2 has (if this is your interest) is modding it, and getting CUSTOM Guitar Hero SONGS, at no cost ;] just my opinion

If the drive on the PS2 is broken just buy a used PS2, they are very cheap and many come with games and accessories
No a PS2 works just the way it comes from the store without a harddrive
You need to attach either a Ethernet adapter or a modem to the PS2. The PS2 comes with an integrated Ethernet port.
there r no r3 n ps2 there are right analog stick which is 'r' then comes r1 on the right side corner then r2
They cheapest best way to fix a broken PS2 is to find a PS2 or a PS2 system with games and accessories you might like and purchase it off a site like Ebay. Cost of parts labor and inspections make most fixes uneconomical when compared to the ease of replacement with a similar used console. You can even find complete systems for less than the $100 cost of a new PS2
