All you have to do is update to the latest firmware.
This would depend on what firmware you wished to update. Most firmware is only covered by their manufacturers official website and using other firmware would invalidate your warranty.
yea... just go to settings and go up to upgrade firmware.or if you have a umd just go down under umd and there should be a firmware update . the firmware has to be grater than the one you have for this to work.(use the first choice its easier)
Just updates your DSi to the latest firmware.
Because when you perform firmware update you loose all your settings and you will have set it again.
