Cydaquil makes the game alot easier. But you need to cover weakness, and there really is no best team.
Let's look at fully evolved:
Typlosion, Weak to water, rock, ground.
Starmie, Covers rock and ground weakness of Typlosion. Very speedy.
Garchomp? Very powerful and covers Starmie's electric weakness.
Starmie could know ice beam to cover Garchomps ice weakness.
And keep going like that. That might not have been very helpful, but I hope I did help :)
