You have to tailor the name to the game - in other words, game shows are named based on what game they are. "Wheel of Fortune," "Jeopardy," "Family Feud" -- all named because of the type of game they're playing. Just brainstorm a list of names and pick which one you like best. That's how writers come up with names.
It all depends on what format in which you are writing. When I was still in school, I primarily had to use the MLA format. In MLA you are required to underline website names. This is the website that I always used to make sure my style was correct.... http://owl.english.purdue.edu/
Are you talking about characters saying the name verbally? If so, many game developers wouldn't include that within a game - think of the amount of time it would take to get all of the voice actors to record various sentences with different names. Also, many people may be creative with their name - how are game developers to know all of the different names that can be created? It's impossible to know all of the names that could be made up. In other terms, the Fifa games verbally say the last name of your player (only if it's the same as a recorded last name from a list within the game). Hope this helped.

It can be. People's names don't tell whether they're rich or not, though. Bill Gates is a pretty ordinary name, after all. Here's a link to a good last-name generating website so you can get some more ideas for names, too.
