Of course, otherwise he wouldn't exist. In the Archie comics Sonic's dad is, Jules Hedgehog and his mom is, Bernie Hedgehog. However, this isn't canon to the game continuity.

What was Sonic the Hedgehogs childhood like?
When Sonic was just an infant along with his brother and sister Manic and Sonia, he was separated from his mother because of the invasion of Robotnik. A few years later, Sonic's adopter, a man by the last name of Simpson, was found and robotizised while Sonic fled to Uncle Chuck. He lived the life of a freedom fighter until Uncle Chuck was also captured along with Manic's "dad" Ferrel, and Sonia's "mom". The three joined together to fight off Robotnik's rule and take back some of Mobius. By then Sonic was somewhat grown up at about 7 years old and he joined the undercover freedom fighters. That was probably the longest answer EVER!!!
