If you could make a Backwards Compatible PS3 Slim 250 GB why would someone pay as much for an old PS3 with an unknown history that might have been repaired many times.

It was and according to the Sony Support website only the 1ST 80 GB model of the PS3 was backward compatible. The model number on the back was CECHA01. The 20 GB and 60 GB models were also backward compatible. All other PS3 models including the 160 GB and the new Slim 120GB and 250 GB models are not Backward compatible. Files created in the 2003 version will be readable by Office 2007, as most packages are designed to read data created on older versions. The reverse, however is where difficulties will arise, as software is rarely backwards-compatible.
Unfortunately I don't think you can. The two consoles are using different technologies for the games and I don't see competitors willing to make their systems compatible.
