It depends on how mature they are. If they start making innapropret jokes about the 'nasty' stuff that goes on in the game, it's not right for them. My father told me that if I had any questions about whats happening,such as the WooHoo part, ask him or mom. Other than that...well I dunno what else.

I am a very protective parent, and I let my eight year old play the sims 3 generations. The sims 3 generations is your best bet for child appropriateness because you can have a child character and avoid all of the sexual things that would not be appropriate. Another okay one is the regular older version of the pc sims because your character can choose to adopt a baby instead of doing the 'wild thing'. If you go over the stuff they're not allowed to do then you should be fine.
