Sheik is Zelda in disguise, Zelda is a girl, but Sheik is referred to as a boy. Although Sheik is really Zelda and is therefore a girl, "Sheik" is thought to be a boy.
There's some debate over whether or not Zelda uses magic to completely change her gender.
