No. The Sims Medieval is not an expansion. It's a stand alone game that plays a lot like the Sims Stories or Cast a way. It's not an open sandbox type game where you can do everything and nothing at all. In Medieval, you have to follow the story line to continue the game progress. Also, you can't fully customize your Sim or home like in The Sims 3, the home is more like a dollhouse, only letting you see in from the back cut a way. You can't really have a family on Medieval either, you can have a wife and kids but you can't control them and your children will reach childhood and then the growth will stop.
