As Hitmonlee is often seen using it's legs and feet as it's form of weaponry, this Pokemon was based on the famous martial artist, Bruce Lee ( the names also sound quite similar). The second Pokemon, Hitmonchan, is frequently seen using it's arms and fists in combat, which are also it's main weaponry (also considering the fact the both Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan contain a move set that specifically involves punches or kicks). This Pokemon is based off of another great martial artist, Jackie Chan.
