Charcoal increases fire type moves by 20%. So for example if a level 50 Blaziken did a Blaze Kick on a Roserade level 30 it would do 100 damage WITHOUT holding charcoal. (remebmer this is a example). But if Blaziken did hold the charcoal it would make 120 damage. In Pokemon gold,silver and crystal it was only 10%. But in Diamond,Pearl and Platinum it is 20%
