The name is Yoshi (yo-she). he is awesome!
Not exactly siblings. In several of the games that Yoshi is in, he has different colors of his own kind (like in Mario Super Sluggers, or in the party in Mario Galaxy). In Super Sluggers, there were also different "Toads", also. Not really clear if Yoshi has siblings, but there are different Yoshi's.

Simple... He is a Yoshi! . I guess a Yoshi is a dinosaur in some games, but in tohers ( paper maro) a Yoshi is a species like a cat or dog/
Yoshi's height and size changes from game to game. Mario is believed to be exactly 6 feet tall, so Yoshi can be compared to that. In Super Mario World, Yoshi is much larger than Mario, possibly close to Bowser's size. (On the picture) In The first few Mario Kart games, Yoshi is a lightweight, and compared to Mario, he's drastically smaller. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Yoshi is slightly larger than Mario. Yoshi has one heck of a growth period! Either that or Mario gained weight then lost some.

1. Mario is more popular 2. Mario got old, and boring. ( Yoshi is part of Mario stuff )
Yoshi talks in some games such as Super Mario 64 and the RPG's such as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Spinoffs such as Mario Kart do not have Yoshi talk except for small voice clips such as "Yoshi! Yoshi!" as with all the other playable characters.
