I did the math on this a while ago, so I'm gonna explain when's a best I can my calculations. At the end of Dragon Ball, when he marries Chi Chi, he's eighteen, having been introduced first at age twelve and finishing his third world tournament. At the beginning of Dragonball Z, five years later, he would be twenty-three, and twenty-four when Vegeta shows up a year later. Following the struggle on Namek, which takes place over just a few weeks, he disappears for two years, allowing Freiza to find and land on earth. After his return, there are three years before the android saga, which then becomes the Cell saga. That would make him around twenty-nine during the Cell saga.
