There is no software hardware or anything else that will let you play PS2 games on the 40 GB PS3 or any on the other models that also do not play PS2 games
First most PS3s do not play PS2 games but the ones that did were designed to play many PS2 game titles and a PS2 was not designed to play any PS3 games. They are very different consoles and the PS3 is much more technologically capable than a PS2. The PS3 also has a Bluray disc drive that can play Bluray Discs, DVDs, and Cds and the PS2 has a DVD Discs drive that can play DVDs and CDs but not Bluray Discs. The PS2 does not have the computer power needed to run the PS3 software and when titles are released for both consoles the game has to be downgraded to run in the PS2 just like they do for the portable game players releases that are also released in Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Even the Nintendo Wii can not run the software of the PS3 and Xbox 360 games and there games are also downgraded. Older PC model and Laptop owners might find that they do not meet the minimum requirements to run the new PC games that have software programs like the PS3 and Xbox 360 games and the same is true for the PS2. It just does not meet the minimum requirements needed to play PS3 games and is well past time for a system update to the PS3.
There is none the software for an emulator like PCSX2 uses the PS2 bios to allow a PC to run the PS2 game software and not to change the game to a PC game. The PS2 game is much harder to set up and play than if you could just make it a PC game
They can't except on early PS3 models that needed the PS2 game titles to insure that the PS3 was marketable, because it was released with only a limited number of PS3 games. These PS3 models sold at a loss to Sony and the ability to play PS2 games was discontinued as soon as enough PS3 game titles were available. See related link. While all PS2 games will fit into the slot for games it is because the PS3 can play CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs and not because they can all play PS2 games. They can't The PS3 games consoles with 4 USB ports are the only ones that will play PS2 games according to Sony. Sony did not design the other models to be able to play PS2 games and there are no updates, hardware, software, programs, ETC that you can purchase to allow a PS3 with only 2 USB ports to play PS2 games. It is not actually the number of ports that matters so much as it is a way to identify the PS3 consoles that can play PS2 games. Sony also claims that all PS3 models will play select PS1 games. see related link

When a software developer or developers are tasked with creating something they need to roughly calculate the different aspects of that job. These estimates give the business an idea of how much the project will cost. Among the estimations they need to work out are how long it will take to complete the project, how many people will be needed, how much and what kind of hard/software will be needed.
You can update your graphics cards firmware and software, but there's not much else without upgrading.

A 2003 eMac can support a maximum of 1GB (gigabyte) of memory. They originally had 128 MB (megabyte) or 256 MB and their original hard discs were either 40GB, 60GB or 80GB depending upon the particular model. How much memory is needed depends upon what kind of work is intended to be done on the eMac.
