Many of the stores that sell used PS3 sell them for close to the cost of a New PS3. The new ones come with a warranty and the larger harddrives that are only available in the newest models. Cost savings in purchasing a used PS3 is not compatible with pricing on other used electrical devices for some unknown reason. It may be some myth that the older consoles are better when the reverse is actually true except for the 4 USB port models that can cost as much as a new PS3 (Which is because only they can play some PS2 game titles not that they are indeed a better quality console)

Most sell for much more than the earlier $40 answer even if they are not working. Retail sellers of used PS3s like GameStop seem to want very high prices on reconditioned PS3s. Ebay sales of 'as is' machines is still over $40, with many being sold for over $150 before shipping, including 20 GB and 40 GB models

I sold my used PS3 80 GB, 2 controllers and a HDMI cable for £200, so you will probably get more than £100 for the console.
