it does take a long time but for me it took 10,203 steps
For me it took 10,455 steps. I'm guessing it's different between games.
Well, this may be very surprising, but it took me 157,239 steps. It took a really long time to do.
I would say about 10,000 steps. And if you want to make it a bit easier, use Pokemon with flame body or magma armor like magmar, slugma, and magcargo.
