You have one person who is "it," and who must think of a person, place or thing without telling anyone anything except whether it is a person or place or thing.
You then go around the room in order. Everyone is allowed to ask one "Yes or No" question at a time about the subject that "it" has chosen. For example, if you think they have chosen Emma Watson as a person, you might ask "Did they play in a Harry Potter movie?" Each question must be one that can be answered by either yes or no.
Whoever guesses the correct answer is "it" for the next round -- UNLESS nobody guesses within 20 questions (total). If the total questions reaches 20, "it" reveals the correct answer and picks something else for the next round.
The object is to try to pick things that other people can guess, not to try to come up with weird stuff that nobody knows. It's a way of learning about popular culture as well as starting conversations between people. It's also a great game for people who are learning a new language.
