You have to hit it or kick it or whatever you may choose, then when you turn a flowing rainbow color click the B button and which ever character you are, depends on which special move you get. Let's say you are Lucario, you get to use a giant laser beam to hit your enemy with. Some character's powers you can't control. You will get the hang of it.
