Click that, and you'll see an aerial view of your land, and another button marked "Estate Shop" and "Back to House", click the Estate Shop button, buy the buildings that you need to produce resources and then get back to the aerial view of the estate. Click the little squares to put the buildings down. Then, you need to get a worker, click on the building and defeat the monster/person to get the worker. Then you will have a Level 1 building. To upgrade it after that, you will need resources like food, stone, energy or wood, and you will also need gold too.
