When you get a cat out from the "Pick a pet" button you chose the pet you want to return.
Then your pet comes out to play next to your cats name it has a blue or a pink cat if it's Catz 5 or a dog if it's Dogz 5.
Click on that then it will tell you what it's name is, what breed it is and when it was born or adopted.
Way Below it will have an option if you want to rename it, next to it, it should have a return button, click that.
It will ask to you if you really want to return it you say yes,then they double make sure you want to, say yes again.

If you want to make catz and dogz play together, you have to have both Dogz 5 and Catz 5 (or Petz 5). then you just choose a cat and a dog and bring them out. Catz and dogz cannot breed.

Try getting you cat to where the case is stuck. Eventually your cat will move the case around until you can grab it. If you cat is in the case, wait for the host cat to come and then do the same thing.
