How do you put down seeds in minecraft?

Step one: make a hoe Using a workbench (2 sticks, 3 wood in an upside down L over the sticks)

| + <--- Hoe Shape | = sticks, + = wood, stone, diamond, etc.

Step two: Find a patch of empty grass.

Step three: Use the hoe on the grass by selecting the hoe in your inventory, moving it to your action bar, and then right clicking with the grass in front of your hoe.

Hopefully this yields seeds, if not then try again - You don't get a seed every time!

Step four: Select the seeds in your inventory and move them to your action bar. Then, right click the seeds onto another patch of grass. Be careful, they will not grow on dirt, sand, or stone! Be sure to have a water source nearby in order to help their growth. :)
