Put sugarcane into a crafting table to convert it into sugar.
you find it, but it is pretty rare. try looking by water
In the world of Minecraft sugarcane and lava are extremely abundant resources. If however, you find yourself never finding any, it would be smarter to instead focus on growing a basic shelter system with a steady supply of food, wood and other basic materials. With the basics in place it would be easy to venture out into most any biome to find sugarcane, and lava is almost always easily found at any level below 16.
I believe that some sugarcane is growing near the water's edge by the largest house, and you can turn that into sugar. 1 sugarcane = 1 sugar.
If you mean grow, when you farm stalks, you may leave one block of sugarcane so it can grow back.
