I have almost all of the Sims 2 Expansion packs inlcuding Sims 2 Pets and I believe that you find a job in the same way you do for all the others. You just click on a computer or newspaper, find 'Find a Job' and your sim should start reading the newspaper or searching the computer for a job. A couple seconds after a window should appear on your screen with a desciption of the job on offer... if you do no want the job click choose the option which will make your sim keep looking, if you want the job click the option 'Take job'.

I know how to make your pet get a job but I'm not sure if it will work in pets. Go to the newspaper and it will say "Get Pet Job For..." If you have 2 pets and you want both of them to get a job you'll need to do this twice. Click on it and then your pets name will appear. Click on his name and then your Sim will look for a pet job for your pet. It's just like when your sim wants to get a job,the jobs will appeoar and you can say you want the job or you want to keep on looking. If you would like your pet to get a promotion just click on the jobs icon and it will tell you the command he/she needs to learn for that promotion.
