Definatly not. Everquest is a paying rpg. Most of the game includes interacting with other players. But, you can go solo if you want. But it's much more fun if you join a guild and do raid parties with them.
To leave a guild, you click on the guild tab in the social menu. You then just right-click on your name and select 'Leave Guild'. A message will then come up saying 'Do you really want to leave this guild?' and then select 'yes'. Using the chat command '/gquit' will also work.

Everquest 2 is a roleplaying game. You create characters and run around worlds. You build up your characters abilities and choose their side. (Evil, Good, or Neutral) You can join a guild which is a smart idea especially if your new to the game. Certain guilds will help you with all of the things you need to know. They help the "newbies." These guilds will explain the game in further details. A good guild to join would be Champions of Chaos. THey are reliable and very laid back. Just contact their guild recruiter. Hope this helps!
