How do you get gifts at mystery gift?

If you have the Mystery Gift option you have to connect to a Wi-Fi system and press get Mystery Gift via Wi-Fi connection however there has to be a Wi-Fi event going on. If it's an event being held in a store then you have to select the "Receive via Wireless" option.
