No, they make the new objects invisible, like when I had 1.7.3 and they came out with 1.8 with stone brick, I made a stone brick house and I enabled the 1.7.3 texture pack and my house disappeared you could see my chests, crafting table, and furnaces from the outside.

Find a good texturepack. Hit download. Open up the download by clicking on the file at the bottom of your screen. Search for %appdata% in your computer's search. (If in wndows 8, swipe from the right side of the screen to the left quickly and hit search.) Find .minecraft and click on it. Find the folder named resourepacks and click on that. Copy the download of your texturepack by right clicking and hitting copy. Paste it into the resourepacks folder by right clicking and hitting paste or hitting Ctrl+V at the same time.
It won't appear because you are most likely using an outdated LB Photo realism texture pack, or the water has not been added as a block on the texture.
1. download your texture pack put it on desktop 2. open minecraft 3. press "mods and texture packs" 4. there should be a button saying "open texturepack" 5. click it a window should pop up 6. look for texture pack and click it then open
mine does this too.... no idea what causes it but you're not alone
For Mac Users Only: First, you must download the texture pack and it will appear in your downloads folder so you should have minecraft otherwise this won't work. Drag the file into the Library Folder, then there should be a folder called application support so drag it in and then, there is a folder called minecraft so inside there are a list of folders and put it in the folder that is called texture packs.
