ring up Microsoft and they should take it in for free if its in warranty but if it isn't they they will charge you.
if your out of your warranty do not pay Microsoft do this :
take your x-box apart (you van find find how to do this on you-tube or Google) clean all the moving parts in your drive and lens with surgical spirits and cotton buds and put bake together works every time!!
Not sure if this is right for the elite but for the white type you just get a butter knife and stick it under the tray to the right, open the tray time just right and thenpull it out when the tray would normally open.
Either your laser in the drive has died or there is some dust that is causing it to fail reading. See if you can fix it by blowing some compressed air into the drive. If that fails open the Xbox and clean the lens with some optical cleaner. If something else is wrong with the drive either purchase a new drive (you will need to flash it) or a new Xbox. If your not a tech whiz you could also take it to a local repair shop.
give it a bit of a wipe or get the disk cleaned Many fixes are on the internet. A temporary fix would be repeatedly opening and closing the tray until the game plays, another is to put the game disc in with the xbox lying on its side, when the 'play dvd' error comes up, stand the xbox up, open the tray and shut it. Also go into your system settings and clear your cache. Next step would be to replace your disc drive. You must use the same type of disc drive that your system uses, or switch out motherboards entirely. If your problem is like mine, none of these methods worked, and you need to send your xbox to microsoft, so you can spend $100 bucks and wait a month while they fix it. but why pay them that much when you can a new one for $160 for a new machine?
If your Xbox is broken you can call Xbox Support maybe they cant tell you how to fix it. Or you can send it in a gaming store as some do fix it for you.
First, your Xbox needs tones of ventilation. Do not keep it cramped with other belongings. Your Xbox needs to be cool and dry. Also, you need your Xbox away from other heating electronics, direct sunlight, and heating vents. Did this solve your problem?
YouTube has many videos on how to fix that problem.
you will need the stuff people use to clean the dust off of computer keyboards and spray the stuff inside the tray that's open and its clean and works

Buy a new tray take the old one out put the new one in
You pull the disc tray out of your Xbox blow into the hole that has been left and that should fix the status code problem the disk tray just slides back into its original spot so don't be scared to use force
Im not entirley sure how to fix it propally cause mine only opens by controller sometimes, but i know how to open it manually if it's stuck. If you go on the disk tray and take of the silver xbox 360 cover of it. On the left side ther should be a few gaps and holes. With a small scalpel or pocket knife you must find a small rubber band (that helps the disk tray rotate) in side one of those gaps, and gentley stroke it donwards until the disk tray pops out, and you can remove the rest of it manually
It says open tray because if you go down to it and click it, it opens your tray.
If an XBOX game has a few scratches, a paste of baking soda and water will help fix the problem.

It could be settings on one of the Xbox. Go to settings and test the Xbox Live connection. Auto configure it back to the original settings. It should fix the problem.
