Since there are only 3, strongholds are extremely tough to find, and it is recommended you bring more than 12 Eyes of Ender because these may be used to locate a stronghold's End portal room, flying in the direction of the stronghold. If you're lucky and you find the stronghold and portal room, insert 12 of your Ender Eyes into the portal blocks by right-clicking them with the eyes, but be careful of the silverfish spawner. Once you're ready, you can jump in the portal to go to the End and fight the enderdragon.
