You have to have a Texture pack that has changed the chest, they almost always have a different texture for everything in the game. You'll just have to try different ones out until you find one you like. Or make one yourself.

When you make one yourself, you want to dig in that texture pack for the items folder, then find the chest/largechest.png files. When you do that, you'll want to edit both in an image editing program like paint.NET or GIMP. That's pretty much it. Don't edit the texture in terrain.png, that textures unused now.
