Whenever you first select the Pokemon trainer on the menu you can select which Pokemon you want to start off with by clicking on their picture.
When you are in the middle of a fight all you have to do is push down and b. (You cannot switch Pokemon in midair)
If you stop moving your Pokemon might act tired or they might be droopy. This is a sign that your Pokemon is tired and its attack isn't as strong as it could be. All you have to do is battle with a different Pokemon for a while and then the other Pokemon will be rested up.
