The minecraft.jar folder ( in the bin folder, in the .minecraft folder, in the application data folder) note, you will need to use an extracting program like winzip to open the folder
You don't actually have to install Minecraft 1.0. Just play Minecraft for Free, and presto! Works like magic.
Install it like a normal mod.
With the last major update (1.6.x I believe) where they re-wrote alot of the game the bin folder is no longer used. If you were to re-install Minecraft it would no longer be made. There is actually a separate resourcepacks folder for texturepacks and a Mods folder. If you use one of the mod loaders, like MCPatcher for example, it will automatically load your mods for you. I don't know if you HAVE to have a mod loader to use it but it helps. You can put your texturepacks directly in the dedicated resoucepack folder now.Go to one of the Minecraft WiKi's to read up on it as you can not mess with the other folders without buggering up the game.

Click the link under "Sources and related links" below this answer and download the .rar file. Then extract it to the bin folder in the .minecraft folder like any other mods. If you're not sure how to install mods, check out the other link below.
Find the world in your 'saves' folder (which is in your minecraft folder) and copy it to another location, like Documents or Desktop.

do you have other mods? not all MC mods are compatible you know.... and make sure you download the right version of SPC so its compatible with your minecraft.... 1. DOWNLOAD SPC and open it with 7-zip winrar or winzip or something like that... 2. put all the .class files in your minecraft.jar (search for %appdata% and go to roaming, then to .minecraft, to Bin, open minecraft.jar with 7-zip, winrar or winzip or something like that) 3. IMPORANT DELETE META-INF (META-INF folder should be in your Minecraft.jar) 4. put the worldedit.jar in your Bin folder 5. have fun MUHAHAHAHA lol if that doesnt work then send me a PM or something like that....

There has to be a steamapps folder. I suggest you reinstall steam.
