So far there are no confirmations of Ash's love for any female characters though there are hints in the anime that Misty has a crush on Ash but it was never confirmed. Ash only has had an apparent huge crush on Gary Oak's older sister who only appears in the Manga but there are hints in the movie if it even counts) "Pokemon Deoxys" that he "left someone very behind" but it could be anybody.

Opinion 2 In manga, in the dub (namely episodes "The Tower of Terror" and "Pokemon Peril"), in the movie Pokemon 2000, and on CDs (Misty's Song, Under the Mistletoe, He Drives Me Crazy, et al), it is clearly evident that although he is dense about romance, the closest person he's had even a sliver of a romantic relationship with would be Misty (who crushes on him in secret anyway) plus as per the Misty lure that Ash is very protective of in later seasons it is heavily implied that the person he left behind was Misty.
Opinion 3 I know many people think Ash will end up with misty but that's because you haven't read a story called "May's Crush" if you read it everyone will realize that Ash and May belong together not Misty.

Opinion 4 Misty had a crush on Ash and Ash also always liked Misty but he only never knew that he has feelings for Misty in one episode of Pokemon he said to Max when Max's freind left him and that once a friend left him and that he misses her everyday but they both know that they are best friends forever he not specify the name but the friend he was referring to was Misty. Another hint is that he had never cried when May or Dawn had left him but he did cry when Misty had left him.

Opinion 5 - "The manga and the anime are two different storylines" and yet Satoshi Tajiri, Game Freak and the other creators of the hit franchise approved both of them (if they hadn't then the manga would not have been able to exist) so for all we know the events in the manga could happen towards the anime's end (in the manga, Jessie & James--the former Team Rocket--marry and have a kid and Ash & Misty get together) but since the anime's bound to last as long as the Japanese can milk it like a cash cow that's bound to not happen for a long, long time if at all "and if Ash does love someone the creators would confirm it."

Opinion 6 - They did dub or not 4Kids wouldn't have been able to include Pokeshipping songs like Misty's Song, Under the Mistletoe and He Drives Me Crazy onto official Pokemon music CDs (2B A Master, Pokemon Christmas Bash and Totally Pokemon respectively) if the original creators of the series didn't allow them to promote Pokeshipping as a pairing in the first place as well Pokemon's official site has even promoted Pokeshipping at one point. It still is possible that the pairing can exist (though that is highly unlikely at the present time due to the overseas creators wanting Ash/Satoshi to be a loner right now despite what many fans whether they be fangirls or just romantics in general--would desire).

The creators may be able to do anything they wish, since it is their franchise but remember if we fans didn't buy into the franchise they would be out of money therefore they have to pander to us to some extent or else the franchise wouldn't be doing as well as it should and ever since Misty left, the franchise has done reasonably well but certainly is nowhere near the peak that it was at when the Indigo League first started (as that was when Pokemania swept the Western nations with Ash and Pikachu plastered on anything available).

That sense of nostalgia older fans feel--coupled with Misty's own popularity as a character--would be why Misty sporadically returns a few times each generation. The creators of the franchise obviously know that they have a fanbase that is comprised of both males and females of various ages hence why they try to sneak in something for each of them (ex: the Pokeshipping community would have the Misty lure that Ash has gotten in a recent season, the dubs of the first few seasons laden with Misty's hints, Misty's Song being included within the Pokemon LIVE stage show and on the 2B A Master CD despite being a song made by the American dubbers and the "Electric Adventures of Pikachu" manga done by Ono that ends with both Pokeshipping and Rocketshipping being the cliched happy ending for all).
Another opinion - I know many people want May and Ash but May and Drew are meant for each other. Also Ash is very protective of his lure and in "Ghost of a Maiden's Peak," Ash looked at Misty and she was all bubbly and they held hands

Another opinion - I believe it should be Ash and May since he has saved May's life dozens of times and May shows affection for him in some episodes.

listen here! Ash and Misty are meant for each other! Misty even hints marriage at ash in the heartbreak of Brock! for all you ash and dawns get a life! dawn and Kenny are going to end up together! For the may and ashes like mentioned above May and Drew! Next the less popular Ash and Iris Ash doent like Iris because she treats him like a baby! Crossing out all other options the most romance was and always will be Ash and Misty!!!!!!

Yes. There is a hint about that Misty loves Ash in the episode "Heartbreak of Brock", where Misty says that someday they will be married.

Furthermore, in the songs "Under the Mistletoe", "He drives me crazy" and "Misty's song" there are both subtle and obvious comments about how she loves him.
Well, most people think so but no actual proof was stated. However, it seems to be more likely that they do like each other. In an episode with Dawn, Ash says he left a very important friend in Kanto and it shows Misty looking up. This can be taken two ways but the way he said it can be said that he likes her.
