I'm not exactly sure.......I accidently killed it in my Pearl version. It may either come back, or be gone forever. Also, if you were to kill or harm Azelf in real life, Azelf's spirit would take away your willpower, making you completely immobile for all eternity (or until you died).

the Lengendary Pokemon that are in platinum are azelf,uxie,mesprit,cresselia,darkrai,heatran,dialga,palkia,articuno,zapdos, moltres, giratina skyform/alterdform/shaymin skyform/landform/and celebi. the only way i know that celebi is in platinum is because you have to catch all the unknown to get him hope i helped
Can you have a second chance at getting azelf on platinum?
I think you can, but only if you achieve something contributing to the story. for example: You fail at catching Alzef. You then go and defeat a gym leader. You can try and catch him again. another way is save right before you enter Alzef's cave. you then go in and if you fail, (which is very likely, i haven't caught it yet and i have the national pokedex) you can turn the DS off and try again. you'll be right where you saved: outside the cave with Alzef still inside. It's like you gave your DS amnesia. :)
