When you are looking for the cheat you put down either HeartGold or SoulSilver depending on the game, but sometimes some cheats can work for both games even though it says its only for one specific game
For example there is a mining cheat where you can get any egg of any Pokemon in Pokemon pearl, but then i tried doing it for Pokemon Diamond and it worked on Diamond too. That doesnt mean it will be this way for every cheat though, but some will work on both games.
