You cannot re-battle Azelf once beating it if it's in Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl however if you knock it out in Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2 then you will be able to re-battle it. As of Pokémon Platinum, there was a new re-spawning feature that was implemented for Legendary Pokémon that will allow you to re-spawn them if you have knocked them out, all you have to do is head to the Pokémon League and beat the Champion.

To rebattla stationary legendaries, you just have to beat the elite four again!!!!!Everyone who sais their gone forever when you knock them out, don't listen to them.Just train your Pokemon, go to the elite 4, & the champion, & when your game resets, go back to where they were, & they will be there. I K.Oed azelf, uxie, & heatran about 15 times before I finally caught them, & all I did was beat the Pokemon league when I killed them & forgot to save, they were back. This is not just some weird glitch in my game, my friends who also play D/P/Pt (no, we are not a group of poke-fans, we just happen to have the same video games ) tried it, & it works for them to.
