If your Minecraft won't connect to any server simply restart your computer and the router.
You can. What are you talking about? I play on different servers all the time.
You play online in Minecraft by connecting to servers. Multiplayer servers will have either an IP, or a DNS (such as craftmine.mchost.net as an example). They both require the same method to connect - Direct connect and paste or type the IP/DNS in the "Server Address" what is said. To find some Minecraft servers, check out the official Minecraft forum site, in the related links below.
First, open up Minecraft. Log in, and then click multiplayer. Next, click "Direct Connect". Then, type in the IP of the server, and click join.

It's probably saying this because the Minecraft servers are down. Try again later.
