A cup is always 8 oz, no matter what you're measuring. If it's liquid it's easy, it's on the measuring cup, but solids are by weight. Most recipes however take into consideration that most people don't have a kitchen scale and will use the measuring cup anyway. If you're measuring for dietary requirements, then don't worry about it, getting really close is just fine. No two bodies are the same anyway.
