The hippo of course. We are talking about an animal that can rip large boats to shred. I also doubt a lion could fight in water. The animal is not as slow and stupid as we would like to imagine.
Besides, if the lion gets near the hippo's jaws, then he is pretty much finished. Hippos are very heavy, very large, very tough, and very thick as well. Even a pack of lions have no chance with a hippo.

∙ 15y agoThis is kind of like comparing apples to Oranges, but a Hippo would probably win. The thing is you will easily see that hippo is bigger. But a pride with 9 lionesses and 1 male or 2-3 males will probably bring it down.

∙ 14y agoIt varies a crocodile could beat a lion by being stealthy such as coming from behind. Also gripping the lion and using the deadly death roll. The death roll is gripping a body part and you roll 360 degrees. The crocodile also could get a good grip of the lion and can drown it. So the answer is yes, a crocodile can beat a lion.

∙ 14y agoA hippo would not feel much from the roo's attacks, but if it got the roo, it would do alot of damage. Therefore the hippo would either ignore the roo, or kill it.
