Will there be a sequel to The Simpsons Movie?

If by "new series", you mean the next televised season (I know outside the U.S. Seasons are called Series) then Season 29 began October 02nd 2017.

I recall reading the newest episodes air a few weeks after the U.S. airing.

If by chance you mean when is the next DVD set coming out, as of April 2015, the sets (both DVD & Blu-ray) have been discontinued. Al jean said they'd still be released as digital downloads but he gave no indication when those releases would happen.

The Simpsons has been contracted to last until Season 30 ending in May 2019, assuming it doesn't get renewed again.

No. At least not in the foreseeable future.

They have stated it was incredibly hard to make the movie at the same time as the series so they won't do that again.

In an Entertainment Weekly interview for the 10th Anniversary of The Simpsons Movie [September 2017], David Silverman stated... "I'd love for there to be another one. We're still a ways away from it. We talk about this & that. We're thinking it over, but nothing's happening yet ... It's still daunting because it really knocked the stuffing out of us to do the movie & the show at the same time."

Al Jean said he didn't want to do it just to do it ... "I'd say [it's in] the very early stages. I certainly am cautious about a couple of things. I wouldn't want it to be risky in terms of budget, and I would not want it to be anything we did purely for the money. I would want it to be a really great movies. I personally feel no need for another one unless it's great"
