THE GREAT holy hole
Not yet. The future of this film isn't known. Open Season 4 may not be created because of the failure of the Open Season 3 film. So far, this movie isn't in plans of Sony Pictures Animation.
Probably not. But there will likely be derivatives, or even remakes. The movies are based on the books by J R R Tolkien. The story from those books is completely told in the trilogy. They can, however, make a movie on any of his other books which are related to Lord of the Rings. There was a similar trio of movies for the Hobbit, which is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings. These films appeared in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
At the beginning of Chapter 4, the 2nd sentence in the 2nd paragraph is an ellipsis. "It was a hard path and a dangerous path, a crooked way and a lonely and a long."
