It's usually not called Carbon Dioxide because industries cool it to extremely low temperatures to freeze it and is called "Dry Ice" which is usually plunged in water or left under the stages and the "Ice" warms up and does not melt but subliminates (turns from a solid directly to a gas) and creates the smoky fog effect that still amazes people to this day...
