At the beginning alot of the children's band instruments are blue. The colors seem to be off. I think it's possible that when they first made The Simpsons they weren't sure what colors to use. The classroom for band had a lot of blues and purples on the kids shirts. It's possible that when the idea was first pitched the original color of her sax may have been blue.
I have been searching online myself and still cannot find an answer.
