The book is about a plane full of English boys, crash-landed on an island during a nuclear world war, who discover the evil of man's heart.

The problem is, if there were girls, that would complicate things. The boys are divided into the biguns' and the littleuns'. The biguns' are the only ones who matter because the littleuns' just play around all day. The biguns' are adolescent boys going through puberty.

The following would have probably happened:

"...the hunters hurled themselves at her. This dreadful eruption from an unknown world made her frantic; she squealed and bucked and the air was full of swear and noise and blood and terror."

That section was taken out of the chapter "A Gift for the Darkness" in which a sow is killed.

In other words, the boys would most likely rape the girls.
