The best im able to tell is that Steve Perry's inability to travel and tour with the band due to health problems is the main reason. I dont think the band would use the words "break up" since they are currently on tour and still cutting new music with a new front man who sounds almost exactly like the great Steve Perry.
I know a couple theroies. One of them is Steve perry was feeling pressured. One of them was that Steve perry felt like a stranger to the group, and couldn't take it anymore. And, one later theory was that Steve Perry hurt his hip, and broke off of the group.
Charlie wanted to be in a rock band; he's now in a fairly succssesful one called Fightstar. Matt has been in I'm a Celeb, and has also had a solo career. Finally James was in a band called Son Of Dork; although they are nowhere to be seen at the moment.
Jellyfish broke up in 1994, according to Wikipedia, over "creative differences" between the band's songwriters and founders, drummer/singer/songwriter Andy Sturmer and keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Roger Joseph Manning Jr.
However, contemporaneous interviews and articles indicate Manning may have been annoyed at the focus of the group being directed at Sturmer over himself, as Sturmer was the lead vocalist and featured "face" in most of their videos. This is, of course, probably simplifying matters and making Manning seem petty, but it's probably more a case of a talented musician like Manning desiring to grow as musician and explore other styles free of the constraints of Jellyfish's expected style, and all that in service to making someone else a star.
Tellingly, although Manning has worked with other ex-Jellyfish members, he has not reunited to do any work with his former writing partner Sturmer, who "stayed quiet for a number of years, but has since written catchy pop songs for Japanese group Puffy Amiyumi and soloist YUKI (formerly front woman and vocalist of the Japanese rock band Judy and Mary). He has also composed, produced, and recorded with many different groups including The Black Crowes, Ozzy Osbourne, L.E.O., The Merrymakers, and others."
A familiar and regrettable story, but we still have the Jellyfish archives, and a compilation called the "Fan Club", with demos, unreleased songs, live tracks, rarities and etc. to show what a great band they were while they lasted. You have to be philosophical about these things and realize a lot of these great collaborations were a product of the exact time in which they took place and the magic is unlikely to be captured again years later (see Steely Dan!).
They didn't break up, and have a new season of their TV show "JONAS", now set in Los Angeles.
The fact that Nick Jonas has his own band (Nick Jonas and the Administration) does not affect the joint projects by the brothers. Nick reported initially sought a solo career, but was persuaded (correctly, it turned out) that he would find greater popularity as part of a group with his brothers.

Charlie had become fed up with Busted's pop-punk music and wanted to start rock band. Matt and James decided that they couldn't continue the band without Charlie so the band split up altogether. Charlie's new band Fight star are having great success but not as much as he had with Busted. Matt won I'm a Celeb get me out of here and tried to be a soloist but that never took off. James didn't do to well for himself either he joined a band called Son of Dork they had one "hit" called Loser ville they disappeared from site. They all would have been better off if they all stayed in Busted.
he was part of the band busted
James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson
www.myspace.com/anvilstheband is the latest project I can find from lead singer Michael Richardson.
It was written by a British pop band called BUSTED in the early 000's Many fans claim that it was by the Jonas Brothers since they covered it. I was quite sad to read one answer to the same question by someone else - where they said that it was written by Nick Jonas who gave it to Busted to start off their career. Nuh ah, this is all wrong. As quoted from wikipedia: "The band who the song Year 3000 based on James' obsesseioion with the film "Back to the future" Maybe check it out yourself as I can't copy and paste it or remember the correct wording. Anyway, hope it helped :)
