The Gessler Brother died of famine. He was only able to make an income to purchase more materials for construction rather than on food. The mass-production of companies put them out of business since they made shoes faster and ready instead of waiting weeks for them. Also, since they were lower quality, people purchased them again. Unlike the Gesslers, they made boots that lasted years and did not receive much customers.

Lastly, they did not advertise, though they couldn't since they had no money.
