Why did Mona become A?

Mona chose to be a to get revenge on Emily, Aria, Spencer, and Hanna. She wanted to get revenge because when they were younger, they treated her like . When in the car with Mona, Spencer receives a text that Mona is "A". Mona sees the text and asks Spencer to join in with her and they could rule the school. Spencer said no and so Mona decided she had to kill Spencer or else she knew she was going to tell everyone. When Mona tries to push Spencer off a cliff, the plan backfires and Spencer ends up pushing Mona off the cliff. Then there becomes a new "A".... ALI
Mona chose to be A because Ali had been so mean to Mona before Ali's death. Mona felt the need to get back at her, so when Ali died, she took over the role of A to scare the girls and get revenge on them for the way they had treated her.
