There are no girls in Lord of the Flies because the boys were from an all boys school. :)
It was also due to the fact that William Golding was looking to prove the defects of human nature, so if he put both sexes on the island, it may not have been as easy to determine the causes of the behaviour. Instead of Jack hating Ralph for being chief, people may have argued it was because there was a girl involved. Also, Golding being male would have found it far easier to write about boys.
if there was a female presence in lord of the flies, there would be another emotion present that would effect the brutality of the boys' savage nature: love. love would soften the morality of savagery, therefore; Golding's message about humans being inherently evil would not be as well presented as it would otherwise.
