During the confrontation on the causeway leading to castle rock Jack ordered his tribe to grab Samneric and tie them up. Later Sameric told Ralph that they were made to join the tribe and that Jack and Roger had, "hurt us--"
Samneric get "taken" under Jack's command. Jack says, "Grab them!". Then Jack forces Samneric to joing the tribe. Later Jack uses Samneric, to figure out where Ralph was hiding so they could "do him".
because he seems so inviting and daring. similar to how the devil is sometimes tempting for us. he seems to be the "cool" guy and like he knows everything. Also, it seems like more fun to go with him then to go with the people who want to do the right thing.
