Answer
"Your Man" was written by Chris DuBois, Jace Everett and Chris Stapleton, and has only been commercially recorded by Josh Turner. Below is an extract from an interview with Chris DuBois......
"Chris Stapleton, Jace Everett and I got together to write something for Jace's first project on Sony. "Your Man" came about from that. Jace had this little melody for the chorus in the early 80's Don Williams vein. I'm primarily a lyricist, so we went through and took the chorus one line at a time starting with baby, lock the doors / turn the lights down low. Truthfully, the song didn't take a real long time to write. We finished the chorus on the first day and got back together about a week later to focus on the verses. Chris and I were both hoping that Jace would record it (he did seem to be pretty excited about it) but somehow the work tape Chris did ended up at MCA Records and the next thing we know, it's on hold for Josh Turner, who recorded the song for his album."
Bryan Adams was the man who sang 'Summer of 69' originally, not 'Bowling for Soup'.
A version of A Sniper's Promise was done by The Wolfe Tones. An I.R.A. gunman wrote it from a true experience during the war. The Irish Republican army was famous for its guerrilla tactics such as sniping and assassination. Yes indeed a version was recorded by The Wolfe Tones, and a poor version at that.My uncle Joe actually wrote the song in 1970 and the original version is difficult to obtain, but it is by far the best version out there. Well I can tell you the man who wrote this song was named Eamon C. Not sure who Joe is but I met this man when I was 14 living in Cork. He escaped prison and was sheltered by my mother/family for 10 months. It sent shivers through me bones when I saw it on youtube. MC
I believe that is Richard Marx, holding the assault rifle, who originally wrote and sang the song in 1989.

Hank Williams Jr. That may be one version, but the version I know is on the "Manassas" album. That song was written by Stephen Stills.

Jonothan Cain.. who was also the one that wrote working class man.
Siedah Garrett and Glen Ballard wrote it in 1987, Michael just sang it.
My favorite version is by Shirley Bassey
Nina simone Well the song pre-dates the American Civil War. Aparently there was a recording made in 1925 that is closer to the original version than the watered down lyrics used today. In the original song, the story is about Cotton Eyed Joe... a black man who woos all the women in town.
